Buddies KT And 5A
In school we have kindergarten buddies. Carson’s buddie is named Bradley. Jonathan’s is named Kiada (Kie- Da). In buddies so far we introduced ourselves to them. We made a sheet of paper telling about the two partners. We colored the paper and it turned out to be a lot of fun. We were put with Mrs. Tracy's class. Everybody got a partner. We already knew some of the kids making it easier to partner up with them. When we were done with the paper we hung them up in the hall and we also took pictures with our buddies. Near the end we read to our buddies. At the end we said goodbye. Some just wouldn’t let us leave. Miguel’s partner dragged him by his arm and wouldn’t let go. Eventually he let go and we left. Most kids got hugs from there buddies. It was one of the best events we’ve had!
Book Clubs
In our class we are doing something called book clubs. We got to pick our own books and whoever had the same book formed a group of kids called a book club. In our clubs we like to do reading responses to help us understand the book better. At the end of every day, we discuss what we read that day so that we can see where we’re at in the book, and, share ideas of what we think of it. Some rules that we have to follow are to make sure that everyone gets to talk, readers workshop is based on our book club book ect. We use something called a double journal entry to help discussing be easier. A double journal entry is when we write down a quote from the book and write our thinking about it. We also write down things about characters in our book, and right now are comparing and contrasting characters. This is all we have for now, thank you so much for reading this. We really think that book clubs are important to have in our classroom.
Storyjumper
Storyjumper is basically about making stories that you already typed on the computer. It allows you to create pictures to go along with your story. When you finish the story it is hardcover and only for $1.95! There are props for your story, so it will have pictures there is also backgrounds so it will look not just plain. It s a really fun website that, if you are bored you can go on it. Storyjumper really helped the class by making their fantasy stories and any other stories. It also gives us a opportunity to show our parents what we are doing in class. They also get to see how creative we are. Intervention
In class at 1:45 we switch class rooms and we have intervention. That is where we go to different classrooms for reading. In Ms. Armstrong’s class for intervention we are doing debates for should there be zoos and should there be video games. I picked yes there should be video games because it reduces stress.
WALK- A-THON
The walk-a-thon is an event that is a fundraiser to get money to PTO. This helps us have more fun events for the younger kids and more supplies for the school. The fundraiser also makes it so we can have field trips. We also get to have a day in P.E - if we turn in $10 we get to bring in scooters or roller skates. We get to have fun walking too!
