Planbook

By: Morgan and DJ

We use a site called Planbook. Our parents can look on it and see our schedule. We have to play games and do the activities we are ordered to do throughout the week. We get to play games in science, social studies, and watch study jams. It makes our year very organized. Your parents can get onto Planbook and see our schedule by going to planbook.com, student view, armstrongam@unit5.org, and the student key is pepper5a. We use planbook every day. We love it! The games are really fun too!

Planbook tells us the lessons we are going to do so we are prepared. It also tells us when we have specials, because we don’t have our specials completely planned out yet. When you get to planbook, you will see an assortment of activities. These activities are helpful. The kids who go to title can be prepared. We have buddies some Fridays, and Miss Armstrong lets us know which Friday’s we will have buddies. We love Planbook! Talk to your child about planbook because it’s awesome!!!

Drills We had our fire drill we also had are crisis drill. When we have a crisis drill we have to get somewhere so people can't see us and then we go to the doubletree hotel. When we have the fire drill we go outside a safe distance away from the school and wait till Mrs. Edward’s comes on the announcements.

Fantasy Stories

By Anna + Jordan

We started our Fantasy and we are doing a great job. Most of us have already finished our story’s drafts.

We have worked very hard at it. We have gotten a lot of time to get them to the fullest extent of a draft. Miss Armstrong has checked them for mistakes and we fixed them and we have help with adding more words to make it sound more interesting to the reader. So that means adding paragraphs, punctuation and vivid verbs and adjectives.

We Needed to come up with an original story that is interesting like about superheros, or talking animals, or anything that has not real and cannot happen in real life situations.

Code.Org Blog

By: Drew & Garrett

Code is a website that allows you to experience things in a gaming way. (Code) has many different games between flappy bird and angry birds. You have to use different command blocks to complete a level. You need to use your creativeness in this game. Code is a awesome website that allows you to just chill and have fun playing plants vs. zombies.

Reading Conferences

Teachers do reading conferences with the students to see what reading level you are at. If you make mistakes the teacher will mark it down on the paper. At the beginning of the school year the teacher has to do it to everyone in the class. Miss Armstrong and Miss Johnson are doing the reading conferences.

STEM Projects

In the beginning of the school year, we did lots of STEM projects. STEM stands for: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We talked about how to work together. We did two engineering projects. One of them as to see how high you can make a free standing building of post its notes. Nothing else. This showed us how to work together and combined our ideas! (Kendall and Drew won this one.)

Our other one, was a freestanding building of pipe cleaners. We also had to use nothing else on this one too. We once and awhile had a message from the company. Then had to use one arm only. (Not enough recourses). We had to be silent. (New country). Then we got translators. (Could talk). ( Payton, Jordan, Xavier, Nate, Victor, and Garrett)

Student Jobs

This year 5th graders have the opportunity to have a student job. The student jobs are Safety patrol, Student Council, and more! Safety Patrol gets to be around the school in the morning and in the afternoon. They help get kids to where they need to be and say “No running”. Student council helps arrange activities like red ribbon week and Donations for the storage room. There are a lot of other jobs like Recess monitor, IMC assistant, Recycling V.I.P.S, and more.

Teachtci.com

We've been doing teachtci.com for the past weeks of school. We also did a project on indians and we had to do worksheets on it. We’ve been listening to the computer. Then we did the challenges. We are on chapter two of teachtci.
